How will I know how my pet is doing while I am away?
Always There Pet Care offers email and photo updates for the concerned pet parent. Just let us know you are interested in this service and, at no extra cost, we will be happy to update you on your loved ones. You are also welcome to call anytime during office hours.

What happens if my pet becomes ill while I am away?
During our initial consultation, Always There Pet Care will collect the name and number of your vet clinic as well as emergency contact numbers. In the event of an emergency, your pet sitter will seek out vet care immediately and contact you and your emergency contacts to make any decisions. If you are unable to be reached, Always There Pet Care will make temporary decisions on your behalf until either you or an emergency contact can be reached.

My pet needs medicine. Are you able to provide this service?
Yes, that’s what we’re here for! At no additional cost, our staff can administer oral medications as well an injections. Detailed medication instructions are to be given to your pet sitter at the initial consultation. Please be sure to inform your sitter of any changes to your pet’s medical condition and medication instructions prior to leaving in case any questions arise.

Where are my keys kept?
All keys are kept securely locked in a safe when not in use. Keys are never labelled with your name and address for added security.

Are you insured and bonded?
Yes, Always There Pet Care is insured, bonded and licensed.

Do you have references?
Absolutely! Always There Pet Care is highly recommended by clients, vet clinics, dog trainers and pet stores. We will be happy to supply you with references, if requested.

What types of payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made by cash or cheque. Please make all cheques payable to Always There Pet Care.

Once I am a client, how much notice do you need to make an appointment?
Always There Pet Care makes every effort to accommodate all appointment requests, including last minute and emergency bookings. Although we cannot guarantee a specific time, we will do our best to fit you into our schedule. In order to guarantee a spot, please provide us with as much notice as possible.

How much notice do you need for a cancellation?
In-Home Pet Sitting and Homestyle Boarding services require advance notice of at least 48 hours. Late cancellations are subject to an administration fee equal to 50% of the scheduled service(s).

Private Dog Walking, Dog Park Excursion and Pet Shuttle services require a phone call to notify our office before 8pm on the day prior to your scheduled appointment. Late cancellations are subject to an administration fee equal to the full amount of the scheduled service(s).

What happens if my sitter becomes ill or injured?
There is always a back up sitter available who is trained and aware of your pet’s specific needs.

Should I do anything upon my return home?
Please call, email or text our office to confirm your return home. This prevents us from worrying about your pet. If we do not hear from you within six hours of your stated return time, we will assume that you have been delayed. We will instruct our sitter to continue with visits until we have made contact with you. Please note that you will be billed for any additional visits. Rest assured, in your absence, your pet will always be taken care of!

What time will you visit my pet(s)?
In general, specific visit times cannot be guaranteed.

  • 1 visit per day – your pet will be seen within a 24 hour period
  • 2 visits per day – your pet will be seen every 12 hours
  • 3 visits per day – your pet will be seen approximately every 6 hours during the day and 10 hours over night (ie. 7:00am to 7:30am, 1:30pm to 2:00pm, 8:30pm to 9:00pm)

In the case of time-sensitive medication issues, other arrangements can be made if necessary.

What do you do in case of bad weather?
Always There Pet Care walks rain or shine! In the case of inclement weather, your sitter will still visit for the scheduled amount of time with a short bathroom break outdoors for your dog and then playtime indoors for the remainder of the visit.
